Regular Classes Judge:
Mary Magness (Pemland)
It was a great honour and pleasure to judge your specialty.
My thanks to the board and committee for inviting me. Special thanks to all the lovely people who looked after me throughout my visit, to name but a few, Bev Michalik, Barb Hughes and Lafrenda Fitzgerald, and my two stewards, Kathy Dolge and Sarah Fitzell who kept everything in running order.
On the morning of the show which was due to start at 10am disaster struck, with high winds which grew stronger and stronger blowing down the Corgi tent first followed by many more. Everyone had to vacate the show ground for safety, leaving everything behind but the dogs. We were told that all the shows on the day were going to be cancelled, but Barb Hughes our show chair had other ideas. Barb quickly noted that there was room at the end of a large building which housed the trade stands and immediately with willing helpers set about setting up a ring. When she had everything in place Barb then had to convince the AKC Reps that we were in a position for the show to go on, this took some time as Barb was not prepared to take NO for an answer. So we all have to thank Barb for making the Specialty happen.
Now back to the dogs.
I enjoyed my judging, my thanks to all the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me. Handling and presentation were of the highest order, males were of mixed quality but I was more than pleased with my winners, as always the quality of the bitches was much stronger and I was spoiled for choice here. I found there were a number of light eyes and some with restricted front movement.
My thanks for the surprise basket of goodies left in my room which I enjoyed. I loved my Judge's gift and will look forward to wearing it and remembering my exciting time in California
